Act of God

We are all stuck.  Stuck in our home, stuck on hold with our lives.  Stuck.  Kids aren't in school. People aren't at work. Streets are quiet.  Stores are empty.  Restaurants are empty.  Libraries are closed. Easter has been cancelled.  Funerals without family.  Birthdays without friends. People are hoarding obscene amounts of toilet paper. It was novel at first but now it's getting old.  Getting old for hospital workers who are literally putting their own lives and the lives of their families in jeopardy. Getting old for people who have businesses. Getting old for people who have loved ones in hospitals and care homes and can't visit. Getting old for kids who can't be with their friends or in school or come to the realization proms, graduation ceremonies and class trips aren't going to happen for them.
Understanding the need to be six feet apart from someone is different than liking it.
It's been the longest two weeks I can remember.   I do get antsy and like to wander around.
Do you believe something can be an act of God?  Sometimes timing is everything and a thing can appear to be just that.   Sunday night we had some wind in the night.  Nothing great, but enough to bring a tree down in our driveway.  It ran straight across the path of escape.
When our daughter had to climb over the tree when she and the girls brought groceries the next day she said, "This was an act of God to get you two to STAY HOME!"
We ARE home.  I don't know where she thinks we go, for pete's sake. Other than grocery stores absolutely everything is closed.   Son-in-law came by that night to cut the tree in hunks so we can get out.  But there is still no place to go.
As much as NO ONE is loving this isolation PH and I realize we  are very lucky.  As of today,
April 3, 2020, We don't know anyone, near or far in our lives, who are sick with this virus.   If that's the payout for staying home, then it's all ok.  Act of God or no.

  1. It is the same here. Lucky we are quilters and have some space we can get out and walk and enjoy nature. Imagine being in an apartment building. It will wear pretty thin soon when we cant see family and the kids for Easter though. Take Care.
