Have you ever done something you swore you would never do? Something you couldn't even imagine yourself doing? No matter how hard you tried? Ever? I have. And I'm putting more and more of those things on the list of dares accomplished.
I now sit up when we drive across the Mackinac Bridge.
I went to the top of what was formerly called the Sears Building in Chicago...the one with the acrylic floor that extends out from the side of the building that you walk out onto and you are "floating" over the streets of Chicago and if you dare look down the people are the size of ants. That one was hard. PH wouldn't even go inside the building but waited for me on the sidewalk. That platform was so high up you couldn't see it from the street. I told the worker in the gift shop that they should be selling clean under pants.
I ate a roasted brussels sprout.
And in London last weekend on Robert Burns Night I ate haggis. This one is almost on par with sitting up while driving over the Mackinac Bridge. No, I think this is a category of its own.All of it. I ate all of it.

You are really a trooper. Much braver than I.
ReplyDeleteYou are a brave woman! Will be spending a day in Edinburgh this summer, but have no plans to seek out haggis!!
ReplyDeleteI don't like heights, so zip-lining was my brave thing. I loved it, and would do it again, if I had the chance. I might even be brave like you if I had the chance to go out on that platform in Chicago. I've seen that in videos. Scary, but kind of a thrill, too.
Of the three, I'm a hard pass on the extreme heights. I've driven the Mackinac bridge and that seems easier than riding - you can focus on the car in front of you and not look down (which I've learned not to do as a passenger either!)... And I'll try eating just about anything. Maybe not bugs. Intentionally. (Cause you know you get the occasional one that just flies right in while you're talking...) But good for you! Taking on your fears is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm. I haven’t tried haggis. Im to sure I really want to try it.
ReplyDeleteHaggis doesn't appeal to me.
ReplyDeleteGo Denice. You did try the vegemite so you are adventurous.
ReplyDeleteWell done you!! Those glass floors are very scary, I did one in Auckland in the tower there after much persuasion and people laughing at me! Have not tried haggis either. I do like brussels sprouts though, great sliced up and cooked with bacon. My conquer fear was to walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, great experience.
