Best days

The girls had their first summer visit for the season this week and it was a busy time.

They painted mugs for daddy and the grandpas for Father's Day....
they ran and played at the beach  for hours........
But the bestest thing of all, what we've been waiting for since last summer, was the first strawberry picking!  She's been picking quite seriously since she was one and now that's she's seven Elizabeth fills her containers right along with the rest of us.  She is a big help.  She loves this day.
Adelaide has her own approach to the task.  She fills her container from MY box of berries.  Because, she says, " I know you don't mind sharing, Grandma. "
She rummages through the berries in my box looking for the biggest and best ones and then puts them into her box.
It's the best day of the year, the first day of strawberry picking.  At least until cherries and raspberries and blueberries and peaches are ready.  Then those are the best days!
