The City
Baker’s Guide to Country Living by Louise Miller
After setting on fire the place where Olivia Rawlings is
currently working she needs to take a break.
Olivia flees to Guthrie, Vermont and her best friend. Olivia finds herself the pastry chef at the
Sugar Maple Inn, under the direction and guidance of Margaret Hurley, a tough
nut to crack. But then, so is the whole
small town. Olivia is under scrutiny as
the newest arrival and her every move is recorded but she finds comfort in her
pastries and finds herself the newest member of the town’s bluegrass band. And
then there’s Martin McCracken. While the ending is predictable this is a
sweet (no pun intended), simple story that will give you an afternoon’s
respite.
